Water Taxi
This is one of the best ways to see the city via the water and get around to Fort Lauderdale's major shopping, dining, and cultural areas. There is a marina pick-up just a block from the resort at the Bahia Cabana Restaurant,  and all-day passes are available on board for $15.00. 


Everglades:
As the gateway to Florida's Everglades National Park, Fort Lauderdale offers a true American adventure, both exciting and educational.  Experience thrilling high-speed airboat tours and observe alligators and other wildlife in their natural habitat. Learn the fascinating history of the Seminole and Miccosukee Indian Tribes and the unique region that is their homeland.

 

Fishing
This is one of the few areas in the world where both fresh water and salt water fishing are within 20 minutes of the angler. In addition to more than 200 fresh water species that can be caught in the county's lakes, there are deep water fishing fleets located in Fort Lauderdale, Deerfield Beach, Pompano Beach, Lauderdale-By-The-Sea, and Dania Beach;  plus four municipal piers.

 

Scuba and Snorkeling
Fort Lauderdale is recognized as one of the world's top diving locales, and our resort boasts two reefs and four dive sites right off our 1/4-mile of beach.  The resort takes full advantage of its prime diving location by having a fully equipped dive shop and certified instructor right on property.  TSI Aquatics offers a full range of diving experiences, from snorkeling, to scuba instruction and certification, to offshore boat excursions. 

Yachting and Boating
With more water than land, not only is Fort Lauderdale the Venice of America, it is also the Yachting Capital of the World. Whether by speedboat or kayak, luxury yacht charter or dinner cruise, you'll enjoy easy access to the hundreds of miles of waterways lined with mega mansions and yachts.



CULTURE & THE ARTS

Fort Lauderdale has placed itself on the map of cultural venues with such facilities as the Museum of Art/Fort Lauderdale (host to such world-famous exhibits as King Tut, The Vatican, and Princess Diana), and the Broward Center for the Performing Arts.  History comes alive at such places as the downtown Historical District, the Bonnet House and The Stranahan House.  Be sure to check with our Concierge Desk for the latest information on current events and shows.

  • Museum of Art - (3.3 miles) This museum features an ever-changing array of international exhibitions, educational programs, and also hosted the world renowned King Tut Exhibit in 2005. Enjoy weekly special events which ranging from jazz concerts and lectures to yoga lessons.

  • Broward Center of Performing Arts -  (4.5 miles) Featuring internationally renowned offerings which include Broadway theatrical productions, dance and popular music concerts, as well as the Family Fun Off-Broadway and On Center series.

  • Bonnet House -  (2.4 miles) Visitors are enchanted by whimsical, unique art and architecture at this 35-acre seaside estate built by Frederic and Evelyn Bartlett.

  • Stranahan House(3.0 miles) This museum is housed within the oldest surviving structure in Broward County, built in a classic Florida frontier design. Once the home of two of the city's best known pioneer residents, Frank and Ivy Stranahan, the building has served as a trading post, town hall, post office and bank. Restored to its 1913 configuration, it's a must see in South Florida.


  • FOR THE FAMILY

    You'll find there aren't enough hours in the day for families to hang out together and enjoy all the really neat stuff Fort Lauderdale has to offer!  Wannado City, the only theme park of its kind in the world, is located a short drive from the resort and it's here that kids truly can do what they wannado.  Interactive is the order of the day at the Museum of Science and Discovery/IMAX Theater, the incredible IFGA World Fishing Center/Museum and Hall of Fame, and the Swimming Hall of Fame. 

     

  • Wannado City - (18 miles) You don't need a rainy day as an excuse to play indoors at Wannadoo City, America's first indoor role-playing theme park for kids.
  • Museum of Science and Discovery and Imax Theatre- (4.2 miles) Kids of all ages enjoy this experiential museum which encourages lifelong learning in science through entertaining exhibits, programs and IMAX® films.
  • Fishing Hall of Fame - (7 miles)  Provides the world's most comprehensive assemblage of sportfishing information, exhibits, educational classes, fishing demonstrations, interactive displays and virtual reality fishing.
  • Swimming Hall of Fame - (less then 1 mile) The international showplace for swimming, diving, water polo and synchronized swimming. The Museum, Library and Archive contain the world's largest collection of aquatic memorabilia and the single largest source of aquatic books, manuscripts and literature.
  • Riverwalk Arts and Entertainment District - (4 miles) Both locals and visitors flock to Riverwalk. Easily accessible by car or water taxi, this waterfront promenade is lined with restaurants, bars and shops.


  • WORLD CLASS SHOPPING

    Bargain hunters and big spenders alike can shop till they drop - and find what they like - at such diverse shopping venues as the massive Sawgrass Mills Mall, the luxurious Galleria Mall, the trendy and historical Las Olas Boulevard, the awesome Bass Pro Shops and the world-renowned DCOTA Design Center.  Check with our Concierge Desk for hours and locations -  and wear comfortable shoes!

     

  • Galleria Mall- (3 miles) This spectacular mall is anchored by Macy's, Dillard's, Neiman Marcus and Saks Fifth Avenue, complemented by a variety of specialty shops.
  • Las Olas Boulevard - (2 miles) Chic, sophisticated, glamorous and yet down to earth, this is simply our downtown's historic mecca for shopping. Art galleries, salons and spas, specialty stores and acclaimed restaurants abound. You will find many charming one-of-a-kind shops and dining establishments.
  • Sawgrass Mills- (18 miles)  The world's largest outlet mall features hundreds of stores and premier eateries.
  • Bass Pro Shop- (7 miles)  Located next to the International Fishing Hall of Fame Museum, Bass Pro Shops is a sport fishing and outdoor outfitter, featuring archery and fishing classes and an indoor pistol and archery range.
  • DCOTA Design Center - (6 miles)  Design Center of the Americas (DCOTA), the largest design campus of its kind, showcasing 775,000 square feet of extraordinary interior design needs for any home, yacht or office project.

    Sports fans will appreciate South Florida's renowned major league sports. See Dwyane Wade himself at an NBA Miami Heat game, or take in a Marlins game and see the 2003 World Series Champions at play.

  • Baltimore Orioles(Spring Training) Fort Lauderdale Stadium - The Orioles migrate to Fort Lauderdale every spring for training camp in our pleasant climate. Watch these Major League players rev up for next season as they work on their moves, and bat against other spring training and local teams.

  • NFL Miami Dolphins Sun Life  Stadium - Nothing beats the excitement of the Miami Dolphins, winners of Super Bowl VII and the first team to appear in three consecutive Super Bowls.

  • Florida Marlins  Sun  Life  Stadium - Come see the 2003 World Series Champions. Although this Major League Baseball team was only unveiled in 1990, it has already earned a place in baseball history.

  • Florida Panthers BankAtlantic Center - Experience a cool side of South Florida with some classic ice hockey, at a fast-paced NHL Panthers Game.
